Biography
Having grown up in the industrial British town of Middlesbrough, Lee Walker launched his musical experiments from a bedroom setting at age 15. Early production efforts centered on hard, bouncy techno shaped by Mákina, the Spanish techno offshoot rooted in U.K. happy hardcore, before shifting toward the broader spectrum of house. Jackin' the Box marked his debut release in 2011, followed within months by Oki Doki and the Organ Donor EP. Additional singles appeared across subsequent years on Two House, Kushtee, and Little Helpers, coinciding with a rising volume of DJ bookings and remix commissions. Late in 2015 he uploaded a re-edit of DJ Deeon's ghetto house staple "Freak Like Me" to SoundCloud; the track spread rapidly, earning plays from Dixon, Loco Dice, and Marco Carola. BBC Radio 1 added it to rotation, with Annie Mac, Pete Tong, and Danny Howard lending support, prompting Defected to secure the track for an official release. Freak Like Me surfaced in early 2016, incorporating guest contributions from Katy B and MNEK while exposing Chicago house legend DJ Deeon's catalog to fresh listeners.
