Biography
Matthew Hemerlein records under the name Lo-Fang and crafts songs that blend folk, R&B, and downcast electronic textures. A multi-instrumentalist fluent on bass, guitar, cello, piano, and violin, he began playing at five years old and issued the album Hot Nickels under his given name in 2011. After signing with 4AD he introduced the Lo-Fang project via the gentle, shuffling 12-inch single "#88" in October 2013. Blue Film, recorded across Maryland, Tennessee, Los Angeles, Cambodia, and England, followed in February 2014, with Hemerlein handling every instrumental part himself.
