Biography
Loco Locass emerged from Montreal, Québec, as a fiercely political rap ensemble that initially went by Koubraüss before cycling through several iterations, including Les Locos Loquaces and Locos Locass, on the way to adopting its final moniker. The group made its recorded entrance in late 1999 via the album Manifestif and issued the live set In Vivo four years later. Amour Oral arrived in 2004 and swept two Félix Awards in Québec, taking Songwriter of the Year along with Hip-Hop Album of the Year. With the 2012 release Le Québec Est Mort, Vive le Québec!, the collective reiterated its advocacy for Québec’s independence; the project climbed to number four on the Canadian album chart.
