Biography
Los Coast, an adaptable ensemble from the Lone Star State, demonstrates skill in both melody construction and rhythmic propulsion through its layered fusion of pop, soul, R&B, funk, gospel, and psychedelic rock.
The Austin-based outfit assembled in 2015 with Trey Privott on lead vocals and guitar, John Courtney covering guitar, keyboards, and vocals, Megan Hartman on bass, Damien Llanes on drums, and Natalie Wright on keyboards.
A standing weekly engagement at C-Boys allowed the musicians to sharpen their stage presence over time.
Distinctive rhythms, memorable hooks, and the authoritative, emotionally resonant delivery of Georgia-born Pivott—whose uncle, former Late Show with David Letterman guitarist Hiram Bullock, shares a family tie—soon anchored the group within Austin’s thriving local circuit.
Further hometown notice arrived via their 2016 slot at the Austin City Limits festival and the emergence of the gospel-funk debut single “Summer Samaritan.”
Three additional tracks issued in 2018—“Monster,” “Simplify,” and “The Morning Weight”—later formed part of the band’s debut full-length, the New West-issued Samsara, which surfaced in 2019.
