Lucille Chung, a pianist from Canada, has earned recognition for her extensive range of performed works, spanning compositions by Mozart through to Ligeti and encompassing orchestral concertos alongside solo and ensemble pieces. At the age of ten, she made her debut appearance in concert alongside the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, later receiving an invitation from Charles Dutoit to participate in the ensemble's 1989 tour across Asia. Her training took place at the Curtis Institute of Music, the Juilliard School, and the Mozarteum Salzburg under the guidance of Karl-Heinz Kämmerling as her main instructor. After earning a diploma at the Hochschule für Musik "Franz Liszt" in Weimar through studies with Lazar Berman, she cultivated a lasting fascination with Liszt's music. Additional instruction came at Southern Methodist University Meadows School of the Arts, the Accademia Pianistica in Imola, and the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. Numerous awards have come her way from contests such as the Stravinsky International Piano Competition, the Montreal International Music Competition, and the First International Franz Liszt Competition in Weimar. Appearances with prominent ensembles have included the Philadelphia Orchestra, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Staatskapelle Weimar, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Chamber Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, while her chamber collaborations have involved Chee-Yun, Ilya Kaler, Vadim Gluzman, Alexander Kniazev, Rocco Filippini, Nicholas Kitchen, and the Takács Quartet. Her discography features releases on the Signum Classics, XXI, DEP, and Dynamic labels.
