British musician Lucy Gooch crafts a sound that sits between ambient and dream pop, weaving ethereal synth textures together with densely stacked choral voices and lines that nod toward British folk lineages. Her EPs have drawn widespread praise, notably the 2021 release Rain's Break.

Gooch spent her formative years in Norfolk, performing regularly in choirs. She began working independently in 2015 after acquiring an electric guitar and then a set of looping pedals. While based in Bristol, she issued her debut EP, Rushing, through the Indianapolis-based imprint Past Inside the Present in the first months of 2020. The following May brought Thesis 18, a joint effort with Black Brunswicker and PITP founder zakè. Her track “We Carry” appeared within Mexican Summer’s Looking Glass series. Fire Records put out her second EP, Rain’s Break, in 2021; stepping beyond her prior loop-driven approach, the record featured more intricate arrangements and lyrical poetry that edged closer to art-pop. In 2022 the same label issued an expanded version of Rushing that added the track “Orthione.”
