Miami-bred rapper and songwriter LunchMoney Lewis emerged from obscurity to global prominence throughout the 2010s after securing a guest spot on Nicki Minaj’s album The Pinkprint and achieving his breakthrough with the single “Bills.” His energetic and playful approach sustained momentum through further successes such as the 2015 track “Whip It!” and joint releases alongside Pitbull, Wyclef Jean, Big Boi, and additional partners. Away from the spotlight, his extensive songwriting contributions supplied material for Fifth Harmony, Jessie J, Icona Pop, One Direction, Meghan Trainor, Jason Derulo, Maroon 5, Backstreet Boys, and numerous others.

Born Gamal Kosh Lewis, he first operated behind the scenes for an extended period that traced back to the opening of Circle House Studios in Miami by his father Ian Lewis and uncle Roger Lewis. The pair had co-founded the reggae band Inner Circle, and once the facility gained traction among roots and dancehall acts it began attracting hip-hop talent as well. LunchMoney observed while recordings by Lil Wayne and Flo Rida took shape inside the studio; then, starting in 2013, he collected his own co-writing credits, among them one on Juicy J’s single “Scholarship.” Work with producer Dr. Luke developed into a sustained partnership, culminating in 2014 when LunchMoney appeared on The Pinkprint alongside Beyoncé and Drake. The following year he launched his solo career via the exuberant multi-platinum single “Bills,” which charted on the U.S. Hot 100 and reached number one in Australia. Following release of his debut EP Bills, he earned another Australian success with the upbeat “Whip It!” featuring Chloe Angelides. He spent the balance of the decade continuing to compose for leading figures across pop, rap, and R&B while also issuing collaborative singles such as 2016’s “H.O.E.” with Ty Dolla $ign, 2016’s “Greenlight” with Pitbull, 2019’s “Make That Cake” with Doja Cat, and 2019’s “Pony” with City Girls.
