Biography
Emerging in 1968, Made in Brazil drew its primary inspiration from R&B and ranked among the key forerunners of Brazilian rock in the 1980s. The group’s self-titled debut album appeared in 1974. At the 1981 Os Heróis do Rock festival, an event that introduced fresh Brazilian rock acts, Made in Brazil shared the bill with Ira!, Azul 29, and other performers. Through 1998 the band released eight additional LPs and CDs, yet persistent commercial indifference and repeated member exits hampered its progress. Despite numerous lineup shifts, founder Osvaldo Vecchione remained at the helm of every configuration, and each album retained an authenticity that appealed to a portion of the rock audience. Among the group’s notable successes were Vecchione compositions “Vou Te Virar de Ponta-Cabeça” (1976), “Jack O Estripador” (1976), “Anjo da Guarda” (1974), and “Minha Vida É o Rock'n'roll” (1981).
