Maria Del Mar Bonet

Maria del Mar Bonet, a Spanish vocalist long celebrated across Europe, entered the world in 1947 on the small Mediterranean island of Mallorca. She first devoted herself to art studies at college, then shifted to Barcelona in the late '60s with the aim of building a music career. Performances with the Catalan ensemble Els Setze Jutges soon followed, leading to the release of her self-titled debut album in 1969 and a steady succession of further records that continued into the 2000s.
