Matchbox Bluesband

Established during the mid-1980s in Frankfurt, Germany, the ensemble quickly gained widespread acclaim across the country’s blues scene. Klaus ‘Mojo’ Kilian on vocals, harmonica, and slide guitar, alongside Bernd Simon handling vocals and guitar, Detlef Schmidt on bass, and George Viel at the drums, continued their collaboration well into the new millennium. Presentations by The Matchbox Bluesband on stage recount the evolution of blues, beginning at its roots and extending to the emergence of Chicago’s urban blues during the 1950s.
