Biography
Melodium serves as the recording alias for Laurent Girard, a French creator of indie electronica who has worked with numerous independent labels over the years. Girard entered the world in 1975 and first appeared on record in 1999 via the 7" single Rhythmi, issued by Static Caravan. Two years afterward he delivered his initial long-player, QuietNoiseArea (2001), through Disasters by Choice. Additional Melodium full-lengths on that same imprint comprise A Slight Difference in the Air Pressure (2002) and There Is Something in the Universe (2006). Girard further placed albums with Peter I'm Flying (A Possible Way of Spending Time, 2002), Audio Dregs (Anaemia, 2004; Flacana Flacana, 2006; Cerebro Spin, 2008), Autres Directions in Music (La Tête Qui Flotte, 2005; Music for Invisible People, 2006), Unlabel (When I Was Young..., 2006), and Arbouse Recordings (My Mind Is Falling to Pieces, 2008). Beyond those efforts he also circulated material in assorted formats that ranged from standalone MP3s and self-made CD-Rs to individual singles and EPs.
