Biography
Michel Lambert earned a Juno Award for drumming, though his work also encompasses substantial training in classical and jazz composition. CBC Radio in Canada has aired many recordings of his jazz pieces. The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra presented the world premiere of his composition "Extraits du Journal des Episodes" at the New Music Festival in Winnipeg in 1992.
Lambert’s drumming career features recordings and performances with leading Canadian jazz musicians including Dave Young, Don Thompson, Sonny Greenwich, Herbie Spanier, Ed Bickert, and Reg Schwager.
Various projects have taken him, since 1982, through Europe, Canada, the United States, and Asia. Those same projects produced collaborations with Marcus Belgrave, Pat LaBarbera, Julian Priester, Mike Nock, Peter Appleyard, Ted Curson, Charlie Haden, John Zorn, John Tchicai, David Torn, and Mick Karn, among others.
