Born in Washington, D.C. in 1960, Michelle Nicastro built a career that moved between acting and singing across stage, television, film, and recordings. She gained the widest recognition for supplying the singing voice of Princess Odette in the animated feature The Swan Princess and for performing Callisto’s vocals in the Xena: Warrior Princess episode “The Bitter Suite.” Earlier stage work included her appearance as Ariadne in the 1983 production of Merlin at New York’s Mark Hellinger Theatre, followed by her turn as the first Eponine cast in the second national tour of Les Miserables in 1988. Most of her acting roles appeared on television, among them guest appearances on Airwolf and Knight Rider, a recurring stint on the daytime serial Santa Barbara, and additional parts on Days of Our Lives, Full House, and the “Grimmworld” episode of Coach in which she played Snow White. Her feature-film credits encompass Body Rock from 1984 and Bad Guys from 1986, yet the most prominent screen part came in 1989’s When Harry Met Sally, where she portrayed Billy Crystal’s college girlfriend. As a recording artist, Nicastro worked chiefly with the Varese Sarabande label, issuing Toonful in 1993, Reel Imagination in 1994, and Toonful, Too in 1995, each centered on motion-picture songs, while the 1997 collection On My Own ventured into broader pop repertoire.
