Though Judy Kuhn did not launch her solo recording career until 1995, she had already spent nearly ten years delivering prominent Broadway performances. After her 1958 birth, she earned a degree from Oberlin Conservatory of Music, trained under John Stix, and entered professional acting in 1981. Her Broadway bow came with the 1985 Shakespeare Festival staging of Charles Dickens’ The Mystery of Edwin Drood; two years afterward she earned her first Tony nomination as Cosette in the original Broadway production of Les Miserables. Additional high-profile turns included the American premieres of Chess and Sunset Blvd., plus a London engagement in Metropolis. Kuhn supplied every vocal line for the title role in Disney’s animated Pocahontas and issued her debut album, Just in Time: Judy Kuhn Sings Jule Styne, on Varese the same year she entered the studio. She has also logged multiple television credits, among them appearances on Law & Order and All My Children.
