Micronauts

Formed in Paris as an electro duo, the Micronauts united Christophe Monier—who had already issued material under his own name and the Discotique alias—with Canadian-born George Issakidis, who had moved to France in 1990. Their introduction came through joint work on the fanzine Eden, after which they issued the Micronauts 12-inch “The Jazz” in 1995. The Chemical Brothers publicly endorsed the record, and Monier together with Issakidis responded by remixing the Chemicals’ hit “Block Rockin’ Beats.” Further Micronauts releases, among them 1996’s “Get Funky Get Down,” preceded the duo’s signing to Astralwerks, which brought their American debut via 1999’s “The Jag” and the subsequent album Bleep to Bleep.
