An Italian producer and DJ of house music whose output blends stylish flair, playful energy, and occasional eccentricity, Benny Benassi first achieved recognition recording as K.M.C. on the 2001 single "I Feel So Fine," then quickly secured international attention under his own name with the electro-house forerunner "Satisfaction" in 2002. Teaming regularly with assorted vocalists and with cousin Alle in the Benassi Bros. project, he has issued multiple albums, the most prominent being the European Border Breakers Award-winning Hypnotica from 2003. Esteemed as a remixer and studio hand for acts far removed from EDM circles, Benassi earned a Grammy for his 2007 treatment of Public Enemy's "Bring the Noise," shared billing on Chris Brown's U.K. and Australia Top Ten pop single "Beautiful People" in 2011, and supplied tracks to Madonna's chart-topping MDNA in 2012. He has appeared repeatedly on DJ Mag's yearly Top 100 DJs roster and has issued commercial mixes since his mainstream arrival, among them a volume on his own Pump-Kin Records and several installments for the Ultra label. Activity persisted into the 2020s through partnerships with CeCe Rogers, Jeremih, and Ne-Yo.

Born in Milan yet raised in Reggio Emilia, Marco "Benny" Benassi entered dance music in the late '80s by spinning records alongside cousin Alle Benassi. Within several years the pair began producing together and independently for acts including Whigfield, Ally & Jo, and Dhany. Further sessions with Dhany yielded "I Feel So Fine," released in 2001 under Benassi's K.M.C. alias and ultimately reaching the top of the U.K. club chart. The following year, recording as himself, Benassi surpassed that achievement with "Satisfaction," a joint effort with Alle that climbed into the pop Top Ten across multiple markets such as the U.K., France, Belgium, and the Netherlands, aided by endorsements from prominent DJs including Carl Cox, Darren Emerson, and Roger Sanchez. Later viewed as a precursor to the electro-house style, the track opened the eccentric and whimsical Hypnotica, Benassi's debut production album, issued in 2003 and spotlighting vocal duo the Biz on every cut. Its overseas sales earned the European Border Breakers Award in 2005. By late 2005, Benny and Alle had delivered the two Benassi Bros. albums Pumphonia and ...Phobia. Benny entered DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs list for the first time and inaugurated his Pump-Kin imprint with the mix collection Cooking for Pump-Kin: Phase One.

Benassi strengthened his standing on the DJ circuit through a series of high-profile festival headline slots. His 2007 remix of Public Enemy's "Bring the Noise" captured a Grammy for Best Remixed Recording, elevating his visibility further. The year 2008 delivered another solo album, Rock 'n' Rave, together with his initial Ultra mix, Toolroom Knights. Third studio album Electroman, released in 2011, contained some of his broadest international successes, notably the Chris Brown collaboration "Beautiful People," which reached Top Ten status in the U.K. and Australia. Between 2012 and 2014 Benassi extended his reach to varied artists, producing three cuts on Madonna's number-one U.S. album MDNA and issuing the lead singles "Dance the Pain Away" featuring John Legend and "Shooting Helicopters" featuring Serj Tankian. Those singles later surfaced on fourth album Danceaholic, released in 2016. Subsequent singles continued to pair him with an eclectic range of producers and vocalists, among them Chris Nasty on 2017's "2 My House" and Sofi Tukker on 2018's "Everybody Needs a Kiss." Lil Yachty appeared on 2019's "Lonely Nights," while 2020 brought releases with CeCe Rogers on "I'll Be Your Friend" and Jeremih on "Lovelife." He also joined Ne-Yo for the 2021 single "Let Me Go."
