Biography
Quintino operates under the professional name of Dutch EDM and progressive house creator Quinten van den Berg. His exuberant club tracks have established themselves as fixtures at dance events and within the Netherlands’ mainstream rankings. Spanning big room house to trap, the productions consistently feature uplifting melodies paired with forceful rhythms, while his high-octane performances have held audiences spellbound on every continent.
Active behind the decks since the early 2000s, he gained widespread notice near the decade’s end through his explosive reinterpretation of Cidinho & Doca’s “Rap das Armas.” Additional output included the 2011 chart leader “Epic,” among the earliest big room house records to register broad impact, together with partnerships involving EDM mainstays Afrojack, Tiësto, Hardwell, and Steve Aoki. Beginning in 2016, the Go Harder EP series spotlighted his harder, trap-oriented direction.
Born in Den Helder, the Netherlands, in 1985, Quintino started spinning records while still attending secondary school. Landing local club dates, the 18-year-old attracted the interest of Laidback Luke, who took the newcomer under his wing. From 2007 onward Quintino turned to studio work, issuing originals and remixes while also contributing mix CDs to the popular Dutch dance series Nope Is Dope.
In 2008 he delivered a house treatment of “Rap das Armas,” the Brazilian rap duo Cidinho & Doca’s version of an early-’90s funk carioca original by Júnior & Leonardo. The remix reached number one on the Dutch pop charts in early 2009, after which Quintino issued his own material on Spinnin’ Records, Rodeo Media, and his SupersoniQ imprint. Two collaborations with Dutch house artist Mitch Crown—“Heaven” (2009) and “You Can’t Deny” (2010)—both entered the Dutch Top 30. Further joint tracks with Afrojack appeared in 2011, among them the successful “Selecta.”
A second Dutch number-one arrived with “Epic,” the Sandro Silva collaboration released on Tiësto’s Musical Freedom label in late 2011. Follow-up “We Gonna Rock” surfaced on the same imprint in early 2012, while additional cuts appeared via Afrojack’s Wall Recordings and other outlets. Other charting releases included “Circuits” (with Moti, 2012), “Dynamite” (with Moti and Taylr Renee, 2013), and “Escape (Into the Sunset)” (with UNA, 2015).
By 2015 Quintino’s touring schedule exceeded 200 dates annually worldwide, and DJ Mag placed him in its Top 100 DJs list for both 2014 and 2015. The next year brought Go Harder and Go Harder, Pt. 2 on Spinnin’ Records, followed by Go Harder, Pt. 3: Do or Die in 2017. Go Harder, Pt. 4: EDM’s Revenge arrived in 2018, the same year Quintino rose into the Top 30 of DJ Mag’s annual poll. The Steve Aoki collaboration “Mayhem” appeared during this period, alongside tracks with Hardwell and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike plus solo singles “How It’s Done” and “Inferno.”
