Biography
Hailing from Los Angeles, Erick Orrosquiesta rose to prominence under the stage name Deorro by crafting high-impact EDM and house anthems. Early releases from the 2010s fused Dutch house, big room house, and Melbourne bounce, culminating in the global breakthrough of 2014’s “Five Hours,” which he expanded in 2015 by enlisting Chris Brown for the reimagined “Five More Hours.” The 2016 collaboration “Bailar” with Elvis Crespo also gained traction, and both tracks appeared on his first full-length project, Good Evening, issued in 2017. Shifting focus toward Latin dance textures, Deorro enlisted Los Tucanes de Tijuana and Puerto Rican rapper Jon Z for his follow-up album, ORRO, released in 2022.
Orrosquiesta first experimented with production and DJ sets while still a teenager in West Covina, California. Around 2010 he began issuing music as TON!C; once his SoundCloud presence attracted notice, he built a broader profile between 2012 and 2014 through nonstop live dates plus assertive solo cuts and joint efforts on Dim Mak and Mad Decent. Standout tracks from that stretch included “Dechorro” in 2013, “Freak” in 2014, and “Five Hours” in 2014—the latter reaching the Top Ten in both France and Belgium. He also supplied remixes for Laidback Luke’s “Pogo,” Steve Aoki’s “Ooh,” and Gareth Emery’s “Lights & Thunder,” and he founded the Panda Funk imprint.
The upward trajectory persisted with “Five More Hours” featuring Chris Brown in 2015 and “Bailar” featuring Elvis Crespo in 2016, each charting inside the Top Ten across several regions. A rapid succession of further singles appeared in 2017 alongside the debut album Good Evening. During 2018 Deorro unleashed nearly a dozen new tracks, among them “Shakalaka” with Steve Aoki, “Dracarys” with Dirty Audio, and “Bring It Back” with MAKJ and Max Styler; he joined Quintino and MAKJ for the explosive “Knockout,” and the single “Muñequita Linda” with Juan Magán and MAKJ featuring YFN Lucci earned Latin Gold certification.
Continuing to release singles with growing emphasis on Latin dance, Deorro’s 2019 catalog featured “Pica” alongside Elvis Crespo and Henry Fong, “Keep It Goin’” with Danny Ávila, and “Left Right” with Hardwell and MAKJ featuring Fatman Scoop. The 2020 cut “Beso” blended pop-reggae and trap elements, while 2021 yielded partnerships with Jon Z, Crespo, Gente de Zona, and others. Many of these recordings surfaced on ORRO, his inaugural Latin dance album from 2022, which also showcased Ally Brooke, Dylan Fuentes, and Fulanito; separately, he linked with Tiësto for the single “Savage.”
