A popular and prolific DJ and producer, Berlin-based Thomas Gold rose to prominence as one of Europe’s foremost figures in progressive house. Born Frank Thomas Knebel-Janssen, he took up keyboards at seven and acquired his first digital synthesizer at fifteen. Before long he was shaping club tracks in a makeshift studio and chose to make music his profession. His first progressive-house output surfaced in 2006 with the collaborative Paintbootiqa EP, issued on Mauritius alongside DJ Björn Mandry. Further twelve-inch releases on Haiti Groove Recordings, Ministry of Sound, and comparable labels paved the way for his high-profile 2010 remix of Fatboy Slim’s “Star 69” on Skint. SiriusXM introduced Gold’s Fanfare mix show in 2012. Demand for his live sets surged, placing him on the bills of Ultra Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival, and Coachella. In the studio he guided a series of successful digital singles with Bright Lights (“Believe”), Lush & Simon (“Morphine”), Amersy (“Can't Stop This Feeling”), Rico & Miella (“On Fire”), and Jillian Edwards (“Magic”). Gold topped the bill in 2017 with his single “Better Version of Myself.”
