Thomas Olsen, performing as Tommy Trash, entered the scene in 2006 and swiftly built a reputation as a leading electro-house DJ and producer via a consistent flow of remixes alongside his own tracks. That year the Queensland, Australia, native joined Goodwill to rework Sugiurumn’s “Star Baby,” yet 2007 proved to be his breakthrough period. Now signed to Ministry of Sound Australia, he issued several singles—some recorded with Goodwill or Tom Piper—and supplied remixes for Green Velvet, the Veronicas, and Armand Van Helden while also compiling the opening volume of the label’s Electro-House Sessions series. The pace remained intense through 2008, then reached a peak in 2009 when “Need Me to Stay” earned him an ARIA Award nomination for Best Dance Release. Releases continued to appear on Ministry of Sound, Dim Mak, and Fool’s Gold, even as he maintained a heavy load of remix assignments for Moby, Zedd, Timbaland, and Swedish House Mafia. September 2012 brought “Reload,” his collaboration with Sebastian Ingrosso, which rose to number three on the U.K. singles chart and number four on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Songs chart; the same year he received a Grammy nomination for his Deadmau5 “The Veldt” remix. In 2014 he produced “Mr. President” for Kylie Minogue’s album Kiss Me Once, and 2015 saw the release of the single “About U” with BURNS. That year also introduced the hard-hitting “Louder,” a joint effort with Kill the Noise and R. City, followed by “Wake the Giant” featuring JHart and two remix EPs. Before the close of 2015, Trash issued the three-track Luv U Giv EP. Singles such as “Bird Alert,” “Lose My Mind,” and “IOUE” preceded the 2016 Group Chat EP, which featured contributions from Moosh & Twist, Jesse Boykins III, A-Trak, Gladiator, Kittens, and Tommy Lee Sparta. The bright anthem “Dreamer,” spotlighting DENM, arrived in 2017.
