Biography

Miró stood among the key acts in Britain’s acoustic resurgence of the late 1980s. Their music channeled rural traditions via strings and guitars supporting songs written by frontman Roddie Harris—born Roderick Harris in England in 1963 and responsible for guitar and vocals—that carried the influence of Nick Drake. He was accompanied by violinist Julian Jackson and by Julia Palmer, trained at the Royal Northern College of Music, who contributed cello and vocals. Reviewers frequently reached for phrases such as ‘Music for a Kensington bedsit’ to capture the band’s appeal. Across the 1990s the group issued two EPs, Greetings From The Golborne Rd (1990) and The Divine (1994), plus several albums on the independent label Secret Heart.
