Biography
A South Korean quartet assembled by JYP Entertainment, Miss A built their reputation on sleek, dance-driven pop singles. Their breakthrough arrived in July 2010 with the chart-topping “Bad Girl Good Girl,” which opened the door to the Top Ten debut album A Class in 2011 and the number-two follow-up Hush two years later. Following the 2015 Colors EP, the group dissolved.
The lineup consisted of main vocalist Fei (Wang Fei Fei), lead vocalist and lead rapper Suzy (Bae Sue Ji), main dancer, lead vocalist and rapper Min (Lee Min Young), and main rapper, lead vocalist and dancer Jia (Mong Ji Ah). Prior to formation, each member had completed individual training programs. Their first release, the July 2010 single “Bad Girl Good Girl,” reached number one on the Goan charts. The full-length A Class arrived in July 2011, containing the earlier hit alongside “Step Up,” “Breathe,” “Love Alone,” and “Good Bye Baby,” and climbed to number nine on the Goan album chart; a Chinese-language version issued that September reached number three on Taiwan’s G-Music Chart.
Miss A next delivered the EPs Touch and Independent Women, Pt. 3, both of which previewed their second studio album, Hush. Issued in October 2013, Hush incorporated the already-released “Touch” and “I Don’t Need a Man” plus the new cuts “Come on Over,” “Hide & Seek,” and “Love Is U,” ultimately peaking at number two on the Goan Album chart and number four on the Billboard World Albums chart. In 2015 the quartet returned with the Colors EP, led by “Only You,” and documented their activities in the online series Real Miss A. By December 2017, however, Jia and Min had departed, prompting the official disbandment of Miss A.
