Biography
Moko, the London vocalist whose sound fuses the profound textures of gospel and house with the streamlined forms of R&B and indie electronica, gained swift attention in 2013 through the release of her track “Freeze.” Having performed as a church singer surrounded by soul and gospel albums at home, she first fronted groups before stepping out as a solo artist once she had finished her studies at Goldsmiths University. That year the songs “Freeze” and “Summon the Strength” surfaced online to herald her debut EP Black, which appeared on MTA, the imprint operated by Chase & Status, and prompted parallels to earlier trip-hop acts such as Tricky and Massive Attack.
