Biography
Monogold, the Brooklyn, New York indie rock outfit, took shape in 2007 as a quartet steeped in the experimental psych-pop sound associated with Yeasayer, Grizzly Bear, and Animal Collective, issuing their opening statement on the album Waves. A leaner direction guided their 2009 follow-up, the Spin-approved EP We Animals. By then pared down to the trio of Keith Kelly, Jared Apuzzo, and Mike Falotico, the group sharpened its hallmark mix of ambient, new wave, and psychedelic indie pop across the 2011 full-length The Softest Glow. The colorful, exhilarating EP This Bloom arrived in 2014, and the trio returned the next year with the dreamy, acoustic-minded EP Good Heavens.
