Mooi Wark, a Dutch rock band rooted in the boerenrock style, achieved mainstream breakthrough during the mid- to late 2000s through hit singles such as "Idioot" and "In de Blote Kont," along with Top Ten albums including Bok 'm d'r Op! and Rock & Rodzooi. The group originated in 1992 in Drenthe, The Netherlands, with its initial lineup consisting of Bert Koops on vocals and guitar, Henk Oosting on bass and vocals, Arjan Elting on drums, and Bert Hoezen on guitar and vocals. Except for frontman Koops, the Mooi Wark roster experienced repeated turnover across the years, ultimately encompassing more than a dozen former members as drummers, bassists, and guitarists joined and departed. The band's first full-length release, Zwoegen In't Heuj, arrived in 1992 and was followed by Zo Plat As Wat in 1996 and Kieken Wat 't Wordt in 1999. These efforts, like the subsequent Gang op de Ket in 2001, Only Rock 'n' Roll in 2003, and Smeer in 2004, failed to register notable commercial impact, although a dedicated audience sustained the group through that period. Commercial payoff finally arrived in 2006 via the breakthrough single "Idioot" and its accompanying album. The next release, Bok 'm d'r Op (2008), yielded the comparable hit "In de Blote Kont" and marked the first Mooi Wark album to enter the Top Ten of the Dutch albums chart. The ninth album, Rock & Rodzooi (2009), likewise reached the Top Ten while featuring the hit singles "Tepels Liegen Niet" and "Warkende Helden." Momentum persisted with X (2010), the band's initial Top Five album, which included the hit singles "Goeie Been, Verkeerde Bed" and "Doar Heb Ik Schijt An."
