Museum of Love, an eclectic dance-rock duo pulling from Bryan Ferry and John Cale alongside house, dub, and Krautrock, formed around DFA associates Pat Mahoney and Dennis McNany, who issued their self-titled debut in 2014. After sporadic singles and remixes, the pair resurfaced in 2021 with the second album, Life of Mammals.

LCD Soundsystem drummer Pat Mahoney joined producer and engineer Dennis McNany, aka Jee Day, to launch Museum of Love in 2013. McNany, who established Run-Roc Records, managed most production while Mahoney supplied vocals, resulting in a softer, more esoteric tone than typical DFA releases; the name originates from a Daniel Johnston song, with further inspiration drawn from Harry Nilsson and Roxy Music. Dancefloor viability stayed intact, shown by the duo’s remix of Battles’ “My Machines” plus the 2013 singles “Down South” and “Monotronic.” DFA released the self-titled debut in October 2014. The Remixes appeared the next year, incorporating reworkings for Zoé and Mark E. The eponymous label put out the single “Marching Orders” in 2018. After signing to Skint, Museum of Love delivered the slightly cabaret-esque single “Cluttered World” in March 2021. The band produced Life of Mammals, which LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy mixed, and it arrived the following July.
