Biography
Thomas Rainer operates the industrial and EBM project Nachtmahr from his base in Vienna, Austria, where he functions as producer, vocalist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist; his additional endeavors encompass L'Âme Immortelle and Siechtum. Years before launching Nachtmahr, he established L'Âme Immortelle in 1996 alongside Sonja Kraushofer, after which the industrial and darkwave pair issued multiple albums first through Trisol Music Group and subsequently via Sony BMG. Rainer also issued several recordings between 2000 and 2002 with Joachim Sobczak under the industrial and EBM name Siechtum, again in association with Trisol Music Group. While serving as resident DJ at Vienna’s Club Pi, he programmed an array of industrial dance styles and drew impetus to create Nachtmahr as a vehicle for studio concepts sparked during those sets. His first Nachtmahr release arrived in 2007 with the remix-focused EP Kunst Ist Krieg on Trisol Music Group, followed by the project’s debut full-length album, Feuer Frei!, the next year.
