Biography
Born in Liverpool in 1990 to Irish parents, Nathan Carter emerged as a leading country Irish artist before deciding at eighteen to relocate to Ireland, his family's ancestral homeland. Music formed a constant thread in his early years, evident when he mastered the accordion by age four and captured the All-Ireland Title for Traditional Singing at ten, steering him naturally toward a professional path. His first album, Starting Out, surfaced in 2007 and blended country with Celtic elements that reinvigorated both genres across Ireland and England.
The release solidified Carter's standing as a favorite among Irish audiences and led to his second album, The Way That You Love Me, in 2010, followed a year later by Time of My Life. Momentum built sharply in 2012 with his fourth album, Wagon Wheel, which climbed to number six on the Irish album charts and established him as the driving force behind the evolving country and Irish movement. Where I Wanna Be, issued in 2013, ascended to the summit of the Irish album chart, while Beautiful Life, his seventh project released two years afterward, duplicated that achievement and marked his initial appearance on the U.K. album chart. A U.K. tour that same year underscored his expanding reach as he captivated audiences throughout both regions.
Carter maintained his ascent in 2016 by unveiling his eighth studio album, Stayin' Up All Night, which again topped the Irish album chart, performed strongly on the U.K. albums chart, and secured a Top 40 position. The following year brought his ninth studio release, Livin' the Dream. Continuing the annual pace, he issued Born for the Road in 2018 and Irish Heartland in 2019, then presented his first career-spanning collection, Anniversary Collection: The Best of the First 10 Years, in 2020.
