Nick Höppner ranks among the respected figures in DJing and production, tied closely to Berlin’s renowned Berghain venue and the affiliated Ostgut Ton imprint. He ranked among the club’s initial residents, focusing on the upstairs Panorama Bar space devoted to house sounds rather than the expansive main floor given over to strict techno, and he helped launch the label in 2005, remaining its manager through 2012. His selections and studio work move smoothly across techno and house, most often favoring the warmer, tuneful side of both. A split 12" alongside Error Error marked his first appearance in late 2004, yet the bulk of his output through the rest of the decade came via the trio My My, formed with Lee Jones and briefly Carsten Klemann. After several preparatory singles, the group’s first album, Songs for the Gentle, surfaced on Playhouse in 2006. Solo 12"s on Ostgut Ton commenced in 2007, while he also reworked material from M.A.N.D.Y., MIA., Richard Davis, and additional artists. The 2012 mix compilation Panorama Bar 04 introduced his curatorial work, the same year he issued split singles with Auntie Flo on Kompakt Extra and Deadbeat on Echocord Colour. After the Red Hook Soil EP of 2013, his debut artist album Folk reached listeners in 2015. A subsequent remix EP appeared, followed by a split EP alongside Fort Romeau and Fantastic Planet that also featured a collaboration with Gonno. The Box Drop EP preceded his second full-length, Work, which emerged in 2017.
