Biography
Hailing from Berlin, Redshape crafts an exploratory, equipment-driven strain of techno shaped by the pioneering electronic currents of Detroit and Chicago, '90s breakbeat house, and further influences. Acclaim runs high across club circles for his spontaneous live sets and his output on esteemed outlets including Delsin (The Dance Paradox, 2009) and Monkeytown (A Sole Game, 2018). Once an enigmatic presence concealed behind a signature red mask, he later disclosed his identity as Sebastian Kramer, who had already begun releasing material under his own name in 2000.
His debut surfaced in 2006, swiftly building recognition as a dynamic performer who appeared at clubs across Europe. Early EPs on Music Man, Delsin, and his own Present drew positive parallels to classic Planet E material. After the dancefloor traction of tracks such as "Unfinished Symmetry" and "Dog Day" (both from 2007), his first album, The Dance Paradox, followed in 2009. An initial appearance on Running Back came via the 2011 EP On Da Floor, preceding his sophomore album Square, issued by Gerd Janson’s label in 2012. Further releases continued across imprints such as 3024, Dekmantel, and Nonplus. Two Best of Live EPs, drawn from material honed in performance, surfaced in 2016 and 2017. His third album, A Sole Game, arrived on Modeselektor’s Monkeytown Records in 2018. In 2019 he issued Android Malfunction on Delsin and Rise on Running Back.
