Biography
Following the 2005 dissolution of Bay Area pop-punk outfit Tsunami Bomb, drummer Gabe Lindeman and guitarist/vocalist Jay Northington found themselves bandless yet still driven to create music. The pair therefore resumed songwriting and rehearsals inside an old woodshop located in Petaluma, CA. They named the endeavor Nothington during spring 2006 and uploaded early demos to the internet, though the precise direction of the material remained undecided. Shortly afterward the two enlisted guitarist/vocalist Chris Matulich, whose prior punk group Enemy You had been inactive for several years, and completed the lineup with bassist Mike Hicks, a longtime participant in the regional scene. That summer the finished quartet secured a deal with Los Angeles-based BYO Records and entered the studio. Drawing from Leatherface, Social Distortion, and Tom Waits, the band’s Southern-tinged punk rock made its recorded debut on the “One for the Road” 7", issued in late 2006 by local indie Left Off the Dial. Their first full-length album, All In, followed in February 2007 via BYO.
