Biography
Obus, a Spanish heavy metal quartet, originated in Madrid during 1980 when guitarist Francisco Laguna and bassist Juan Luis Serrano established the group, which soon incorporated drummer Manolo Cano, later succeeded by Fernando Sanchez. Once Fortu Sanchez assumed the role of primary vocalist, the ensemble affiliated with the Madrid-based independent imprint Chapa Discos to produce Preparate under the guidance of Luis Soler and Tino Casal. Their inaugural concert appearance occurred on November 6, 1981. Subsequent releases included Poderoso Como el Trueno in 1982 followed by El Que Mas in 1984, the latter containing the track "Alguien" penned by Iron Maiden's Adrian Smith. Having completed an initial tour across South America, Obus captured Pega Con Fuerza in 1985, which showcased the successful single "Te Visitara La Muerte." The year 1990 saw the issuance of Otra Vez En La Ruta, after which the band dissolved temporarily. A reformation took place in 1996. Desde El Fondo Del Abismo emerged in October 2000.
