Los Suaves

The Spanish rock outfit los Suaves, fronted by singer/songwriter and guitarist Yosi, entered the regional music circuit during the early 1980s. After supporting the Ramones on their European tour in 1982, the group launched independent recording sessions that yielded the debut album Esa Vida Me Va a Matar and the follow-up Frankenstein in 1984. Their 1989 release Ese Día Piensa en Mi marked a decisive breakthrough. The five-piece soon secured a contract with PolyGram, delivering their first major-label effort, Malas Noticias, in 1993. Acclaimed for their commanding stage presence, los Suaves received a 1999 readers’ poll honor from a local rock magazine naming them Best Live Performer of the Century. The ensemble tracked Víspera De Todos Los Santos the next year.
