M-Clan originated in the early 1990s under the previous moniker Murcielagos Clan. Drawing strong inspiration from Southern rock, the group launched their recording career via Un Buen Momento in 1996, with Coliseum appearing the subsequent year. Ex-Tequila member Alejo Stivel handled production duties for the 1999 album Usar y Tirar, delivering a well-received blend of the ensemble's folk, blues, and hard rock approach. A live acoustic set captured on November 23, 2000, served as the band's fourth release under the title Sin Enchufe ("Unplugged") when it came out the following year. Following Defectos Personales from 2002, M-Clan issued Sopa Fría in 2004 along with the career overview Retrovisión in 2006. Memorias de un Espantapájaros came next in 2008, succeeded by Para No Ver el Final in 2010, and the Spanish rockers put out Arenas Movedizas in 2012.
