Formed in 1998 by a group of school friends in the modest Granada-province town of Loja, the Spanish alternative-rock outfit Lori Meyers began as an independent project. Its original lineup featured Antonio López, better known as Noni, handling vocals and guitar, alongside Julián Méndez on bass, keyboards, and vocals, Alejandro Méndez on guitar, and Alfredo Núñez on drums; Sergio Martín would eventually step in on guitar, bass, and vocals in place of Méndez. Early demo work from 2002 and 2003 later surfaced as the Ya Lo Sabes EP in 2004, paving the way for the band’s first full-length release, Viaje de Estudios, which appeared the same year on the Spanish indie imprint Houston Party Records. The single “Tokio Ya No Nos Quiere” preceded the EP, whose title track had already been drawn from the album.

A follow-up EP titled La Caza arrived in 2005 and introduced fresh songs, leading later that year to the second album, Hostal Pimodán, and its single “Dilema.” Mounting critical attention soon translated into a major-label opportunity with La Incubadora, Universal Music Group’s Spanish alternative-rock division; the band signed and reissued Hostal Pimodán in 2006, appending a bonus disc of newly recorded tracks. The 2008 album Cronolánea, fronted by the single “Luces de Neón,” performed strongly enough to reach number 21 on the Spanish albums chart. Its successor, 2010’s Cuando el Destino Nos Alcance, was helmed by multiple Grammy winner Sebastián Krys and climbed to number 16. Krys returned for Impronta, which advanced to number three in 2013; both “Planilandia” and “El Tiempo Pasará” entered the Top 30 of the singles chart. The band followed with the A Solas EP the next year and, in 2017, released its fifth studio album, En la Espiral, which claimed the top spot on the Spanish albums chart.
