Second

Inspired by the shadowy textures of British rock from the 1980s, Sean Frutos on vocals and Jorge Guirao on guitar—both natives of Murcia—launched the band Second in 1997. Following a stretch of regional performances and strong showings in local contests, the group issued its first full-length release, Private Life, in 2000 and brought bassist Nando Robles into the fold. The definitive roster took shape when drummer Fran Guirao and guitarist Javi Vox came aboard to record the follow-up album Pose. A decisive breakthrough arrived in 2004 after Second won London’s Global Battle of the Bands. Momentum within Spain’s independent circuit accelerated once the group switched to Spanish-language lyrics on 2006’s Invisible and landed a standout track with the 2009 single “Rincón Exquisito.” Their visceral stage presence has earned consistent praise, documented on the 2012 concert recording 15.
