Love Of Lesbian

What began as an English-language indie and alt-rock group from Catalonia eventually transformed into an indie pop act performing solely in Spanish. Barcelona-based Love of Lesbian already commanded respect at home, securing an opening slot for the Cure by 2000. The ensemble, founded in 1997 with Santi Balmes, Oriol Bonet, Joan Planell, Jordi Roig, and Julián Saldarriaga on board, issued its debut album Microscopic Movies three years later. Following the 2002 release Is It Fiction? and the 2003 set Ungravity, the quartet completed its linguistic transition on the fourth full-length, Maniobras de Escapismo.

The band achieved its commercial breakthrough in 2009 when 1999 climbed to number 33 on the Spanish albums chart. The live album Maniobras en Japon appeared the next year. A double-disc concept project exploring nightlife and its aftermath, La Noche Eterna. Los Días No Vividos, surfaced in 2012 and reached the top position. Although the 2014 EP Nouvelle Cuisine Canibal failed to register on the charts, El Poeta Halley restored the group to number one in Spain two years afterward.
