Biography
Formed in the latter half of the 1980s, Spanish hard rock trio Extremoduro operated from the outset under the leadership of singer and guitarist Roberto Iniesta. The group captured its debut demo, Rock Transgresivo, in January 1989. Appearances on the television program Plastic soon followed, together with participation in a Yamaha-sponsored contest that secured an initial contract with independent label Avispa and a subsequent deal with Area Creativa. In 1991 the band aligned itself with domestic imprint DRO, which issued Deltoya the following year; that album featured contributions from ex-Tequila guitarist Ariel Rot and Spanish hard rock legend Salvador Domínguez. The releases that came next included 1993’s ¿Dónde Estan Mis Amigos?, the 1994 official reissue of Rock Transgresivo, and 1995’s experimental Pedrá. Agíla, released in 1996, proved to be the breakthrough album, after which the band’s popularity continued to rise throughout the 2000s despite its rough image and controversial subject matter. La Ley Innata arrived in 2008 and reached number one in Spain, easily outpacing Metallica’s Death Magnetic, which appeared the same week. Extremoduro’s tenth studio album, Material Defectuoso, surfaced in spring 2011; after four weeks at number one it remained on the charts for another year. Para Todos Los Publicos nearly matched that achievement, debuting at number one in November 2013 and continuing to chart until spring 2015.
