Tierra Santa

In 1997 the Spanish heavy metal group Tierra Santa formed, with singer and guitarist Angel joined by Arturo on guitar, bassist Roberto, keyboardist Paco and drummer Iñaki. The following year the rock en español act independently produced its debut album Medieval and then toured alongside Avalanche while serving as openers for Dio, the heavy metal quintet fronted by Ronnie James Dio. Locomotive Music signed the band ahead of issuing Legendario. In 1999 Tierra Santa appeared on the British metal act Iron Maiden’s tribute album Transilvania 666, delivering a cover of “Flight of the Icarus.” Between February and March 2000 the group recorded Tierras De Leyenda; the subsequent maxi-single Cuando La Tierra Toca El Cielo included vocal contributions from Marivi Echaniz and Alicia Arguiñano.
