Dünedain emerged from Ávila, Spain as a melodic power metal outfit whose moniker draws directly from J.R.R. Tolkien. Their songs explore fantasy, magic, and personal hardship. Formed in 1996, the initial lineup centered on guitarist and vocalist Tony Delgado, drummer Miguel Arias, and guitarist Mariano Sánchez, supported at the outset by bassist Javier Arias. Jacin entered on bass in June 1997 and assumed lead vocals three years later. Several seasons of rehearsal and sonic refinement preceded the band’s first demo and live appearances, both occurring in 2002.

Their self-titled, independently issued debut album surfaced in 2004. When an earlier label agreement collapsed, Akeloo issued La Luz de Mi Oscuridad, which mixed newly written material with reworked older tracks. In 2009 Jacin stepped back to secondary vocals. That same year the group traversed Spain while issuing Buscando el Norte in installments, later collected on a single disc in 2010. A joint tour with Zenobia followed in 2010, culminating in the 2011 split DVD Unidos por el Metal en Concierto. The self-released full-length Mágica appeared the next year.

Personal circumstances prompted Jacin’s departure in 2013, after which Jesus Izko began supplying bass and vocals. The single “1000 Golpes” arrived that year, succeeded by “Melancolía” in 2014. In 2015 the band released “Por los Siglos de los Siglos,” marking the first recording to feature new vocalist Carlos Sanz.
