Biography
The concept for das Original Naabtal Duo originated with Wolfgang Edenharder in the 1970s, when he sought to safeguard the traditional music of his cherished Bavarian region in Germany. Not until 1985, however, did he locate the ideal collaborator in Willi Seitz. Shifting from their prior occupations—Edenharder as a post officer and Seitz as a salesman—the pair attained international stardom in 1988 by capturing the Grand Prix der Volksmusik in Switzerland, where they surpassed entrants from Switzerland, Austria, and Germany. Domestic success in Germany endured until 1993, when both embarked on separate solo careers. The duo reconvened in 2003, and two years later they issued the album Wir Sind Wieder Da, which incorporated several songs composed by their fan club president, Andreas Sedlmeier. A further major German triumph followed in 2006 when they marked the papacy of Pope Benedict XVI through the patriotic single "Unser Papst der Kommt aus Bayern" ("Our Pope Comes from Bavaria").
