Biography
Born in Hungary, singer and songwriter Peter Foldy grew up in Australia, where he formed a friendship with the siblings who would achieve renown as the Bee Gees. He relocated to Toronto in 1965 and later pursued film studies at York University. The 1973 success of his single “Bondi Junction” across Canadian and American markets led to recording deals with Capitol in Canada and Polydor in the United States, followed by further chart traction via his own “Roxanne” and the Bill Martin/Phil Coulter tune “Julie Ann.” After a short period with RCA, he established himself as a screenwriter, launching that phase with the teen comedy Hot Moves, and simultaneously worked as a director. In 2014 he unexpectedly reentered the music arena with the Bronte Road Music release Nine Lives, a fresh set of original material.
