Since the early 2000s, techno artist Pom Pom has preserved complete anonymity. Nearly every release has surfaced on the self-titled label housed in entirely black sleeves that recall Spinal Tap, marked solely by catalog number. Kompakt's Wolfgang Voigt noted that the material originates from someone connected to Berlin record shop Space Hall. The project's output stretches from severe minimalism to hallucinatory ambient techno colored by dub textures, sometimes threading in warped but identifiable samples such as Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" or Tiga's cover of "Sunglasses at Night". Although focused chiefly on vinyl EPs, the first full-length compact disc, CD 001, appeared in 2008, and an ongoing relationship with Ostgut Ton commenced with the 2018 Untitled EP.

All four opening EPs arrived in 2001. For most of the decade the artist issued multiple numerically titled 12"s each year, while also stepping outside the main imprint for several split EPs with the likewise enigmatic Burnel between 2003 and 2006. The 2003 title 13 was pressed on cassette. After 31 surfaced in 2007, both CD 001 and double-LP 32 followed in 2008. The double-disc vinyl sets 33 and 34 were released in 2010. Following a stretch of quiet, two further 12"s appeared on Pom Pom Ltd in 2013. A track's presence on Giegling's 2016 compilation Mind Over Matter fueled speculation of ties to the equally elusive Traumprinz. Two CDs emerged in 2017; among several self-released items in 2018 came Untitled on Ostgut Ton after a prior performance at the associated Berlin techno club Berghain. Ostgut Ton's A-Ton imprint issued Untitled II in 2019.
