Established in Bologna during 1966, the veteran Italian rock outfit Pooh launched its career with an initial lineup that included Roby Facchinetti, Valerio Negrini, Dodi Battaglia, and Riccardo Fogli throughout the closing years of the 1960s. Following Negrini’s departure in 1971, the ensemble added guitarist, bassist, and vocalist Red Canzian along with drummer and percussionist Stefano D’Orazio, thereby initiating an extended period as one of Italy’s foremost and most widely celebrated rock acts. Across numerous imprints such as CBS, Vedette, CGD (Compagnia Generale del Disco), and Warner Music Italy, the group moved more than 100 million units. Although Pooh sustained regular touring and recording activity well into the 2010s, the members resolved in late 2016 to conclude operations by year’s end, thereby marking the completion of their half-century span. Captured at a pair of June concerts in Milan, the live set Pooh 50: L'Ultima Notte Insieme ascended straight to the summit of the Italian charts when it appeared in September.
