PRETTYMUCH

The five members Austin Porter, Brandon Arreaga, Nick Mara, Edwin Honoret, and Zion Kuwonu first united in 2017 when British music mogul Simon Cowell assembled them into the American-Canadian boy band Prettymuch. Each had been developing an individual path until Cowell recognized the strength and chemistry possible by placing the five together as a group. Following several favorably received EPs such as Phases in 2019 and Smackables in 2021, along with Mara’s exit, the quartet issued its first full-length album in 2023.

The members relocated to a shared Los Angeles house where they composed material and drilled vocal techniques alongside choreography, drawing from the catalogs of Michael Jackson and Drake as they shaped their signature approach. While preparing the debut album they issued the summer 2017 single “Would You Mind,” co-written with Savan Kotecha, whose credits include the Weeknd and Ariana Grande. The track rapidly gained traction across streaming playlists. Prettymuch made their first public performance at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards. The following year they released the EP Prettymuch, which contained the single “10,000 Hours.” Additional 2018 singles included the Ed Sheeran-written “Summer on You” and the Rich the Kid collaboration “Solita.” In 2019 the band returned with the EPs Phases and INTL. Their fourth EP, Smackables, appeared in 2021 and featured the hit single “Stars.” Mara departed in 2022, leaving Prettymuch as a four-piece that then issued its first independent track, “H2L.” The 2023 singles “Same Place” and “Wrong” were included on the group’s debut long-player later that year.
