Biography
Emerging from disparate corners of the United States, the five members of Why Don't We—Jack Avery, Corbyn Besson, Zach Herron, Jonah Marais, and Daniel Seavey—first built individual followings through YouTube and similar platforms before uniting as a boy band. Their sound blends pop vocal arrangements with R&B grooves and electronic textures. After connecting during 2016 social-media showcase events including DigiTour, the quintet officially launched that year and quickly issued its inaugural single, "Taking You," in October. The debut EP Only the Beginning followed in November, with the act’s first concerts taking place the subsequent month. Two additional EPs, Something Different and Invitation, surfaced throughout 2017 and were capped by the holiday release A Why Don't We Christmas at year’s end.
The 2018 singles “Trust Fund Baby” and “Hooked” set the stage for the full-length 8 Letters, which arrived that August and climbed to number nine on the Billboard 200. Throughout 2019 the group maintained momentum with a succession of tracks such as “Welcome to Brazil,” “Unbelievable,” and the Macklemore collaboration “I Don’t Belong in This Club.” Following a short break in early 2020, Why Don't We resurfaced with “Fallin’ (Adrenaline),” the lead single from the sophomore album The Good Times and the Bad Ones. Co-produced by Seavey and Jaycen Joshua, the project landed in January 2021 at number three on the Billboard 200. Additional standalone cuts appeared the next year, among them the Jonas Blue duet “Don’t Wake Me Up” and “Let Me Down Easy (Lie).”
