British vocalist HRVY crafts an energetic style rooted in electronic pop and R&B. Early online cover videos drew initial notice, which grew after his track “Thank You” entered the U.K. singles chart in 2013. The 2017 EPs Holiday and Talk to Ya helped build his following, as did later releases such as the 2018 collaboration “Hasta Luego” with Malu Trevejo and the 2020 single “Good Vibes” with Matoma.

Born Harvey Cantwell in Kent, England, in 1999, the young performer first imitated icons like Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake for his parents. During his teens, peers urged him to share performance clips on Facebook; with guidance from manager Blair Dreelan, formerly of East 17, he soon began live shows and secured a Universal Music contract. His debut single, “Thank You,” arrived at the end of 2013 and achieved major success. Alongside tours, releases, and other promotional work, Cantwell made occasional guest-hosting appearances on the BBC program Friday Download before becoming a permanent presenter in 2016. He maintained a steady YouTube presence featuring covers and joint performances with fellow pop artists. The Holiday EP, issued in 2017, contained the popular cut “Phobia.” That November, “Personal,” drawn from his second EP Talk to Ya, also charted strongly. Crossover momentum arrived in April 2018 via the Latin track “Hasta Luego,” recorded with Cuban-American singer Malu Trevejo. September brought the solo release “I Wish You Were Here,” followed in 2019 by joint efforts with Jonas Blue, NOTD, and NCT Dream. HRVY’s visibility rose further in 2020 when he joined the eighteenth season of Strictly Come Dancing as a contestant. Additional singles that year—“Me Because of You,” “Good Vibes” with Matoma, and “Am I the Only One” with R3hab and Astrid S—were slated for his debut album, Can Anybody Hear Me?. The project, originally due in November, was ultimately withdrawn after HRVY concluded it did not fully reflect his artistic vision.
