Purity fused entrancing jungle rhythms with their own dark electronic programming when the trio first entered the studio during 1997, channeling years of hardship into sound. Their bleak South London environment shaped the music profoundly, enabling programmers and multi-instrumentalists Jill Stark, Florence Briggs, and Icy Lazare to become the first act signed to Tommy Boy Records via the Internet. That affiliation soon allowed the group to perform live and commit the 1998 singles “Adrenaline,” “Bullets for Words,” and “Interference/Baby Universe” to tape.
