Singer/songwriter quinnie first presented her wispy vocals alongside intimate, home-recorded accompaniment through the 2018 release “talk abt,” then issued her debut EP gold star the next year. A fragment of the intimacy-positive track “touch tank” spread rapidly across social platforms in 2022, driving tens of millions of streams.

Quinn Barnitt, a New Jersey native, began issuing home-recorded material under the moniker quinnie in 2018 starting with “talk abt,” which later appeared on the largely self-recorded EP gold star that arrived in July 2019; one of its tracks, the title song, had been composed while she was still in high school. Also that year she made available a set of demos titled demos4u.

She resurfaced in July 2022 with “touch tank,” a piece exploring comfort found in romantic sex that was interpreted as a counterpoint to the prevailing hook-up culture and quickly gained viral traction, accumulating tens of millions of plays by year’s end. Subsequent singles followed, among them September 2022’s “man,” characterized as a sequel to “gold star,” and November’s “itch.” Before the calendar closed she issued the two-song set “thank you wisdom angel I love you,” which contained a soft-spoken rendition of the holiday standard “Silver Bells.”
