Biography
Singer and YouTube personality Ricky Dillon creates electronic-based, dance-oriented pop music. Born in North Carolina in 1992, he spent his formative years in Hoover, Alabama, where he performed on trumpet in both marching and concert bands throughout high school. He spent two years studying film at Auburn University before leaving to pursue opportunities in front of the camera. Dillon joined YouTube in 2010 and started posting a mix of lip-sync videos, comedic sketches, and challenges that quickly drew a wide audience. By 2012 he had co-founded the six-member collaborative channel Our2ndLife with Jc Caylen, Connor Franta, Kian Lawley, Sam Pottorff, and Trevor Moran. He moved to Los Angeles in 2013 and shared a house with Caylen and Lawley. Long interested in music, Dillon devoted more energy to a recording career, issuing the single “Ordinary” online in April 2014. His debut EP, RPD, arrived in 2015 and featured the singles “Ignite” and “Thunder and Lightning.” The 2016 full-length Gold included guest contributions from Moran and Snoop Dogg, the latter appearing on the track “Problematic,” and reached the Top Ten of Billboard’s independent albums chart.
